Awaken Your Voice is a 10 session Art Therapy Program for women who have experienced Domestic Violence.
The overall goal of this program is to provide a safe place to explore individual experiences with Domestic Violence, while focusing on strengthening self-worth, self-esteem, and promoting a positive outlook towards the future.
Over 10 group Art Therapy sessions, led by a qualified and experienced Art Therapist, a variety of art materials are utilised to assist in the exploration of emotions, processing of trauma and creating ongoing strategies for the management of trauma, emotions, PTSD, anxiety etc.
Each session includes a sharing circle – where you are invited to share how you are, and how your week has been for example, and then we move into an Art Therapy activity. We will discuss adding in things like meditation if the entire group is interested.
This is a partially funded program, offered to only 6 women per program.
Please note that our 2025 intake will commence in Dec 2024. Please send through your expression of interest (click "Enquire Now"), and you will be added to the waitlist.

"I am so grateful to have experienced the art therapy program with Amber.
This modality of therapy/healing/art is really profound and myself and my daughter love it. I was quite shocked on the first day not knowing what to expect other than to connect with other women who had experienced DV and do some art. I was blown away at experiencing therapy in such a different way. It was definitely stirring emotions, and during subsequent sessions I felt triggers, fear, confusion, sadness - so many emotions surfacing, and I was held in such a safe and nurturing space to experience them.
Amber was so supportive and when I was open to discussing my feelings she was very insightful as to what may be going on for me and my body. Her perspective was different to mine, I found it amazing to have her input which sparked some light inside me. I have not been to counselling since that first day of the program as have not felt the need whilst continuing with the art therapy.
I can go to art therapy and when an activity Amber sets us triggers me or I feel blocks or resistance (which I always did), the support to work through whatever it is I am feeling is something I am so grateful for. It is a productive way to be counselled when I have had enough of talking about all the negative things that happened to us. There is no need to talk about the past if you don’t want to, the therapy sessions, guided intuitively by Amber can unravel so much of what is going on with my feelings while doing creative activities.
Amber helped me to turn around some negative thought patterns about myself and I am feeling much more positive about the future and plan to continue art therapy. Having the support of other women who understand also, makes life less isolated."

"Thank you Amber, for guiding our group through this series of exploratory Art Therapy sessions. I have grown and gained so much out of them, from considering name change to starting/launching my business idea. The benefits of your sessions will help me and my children for years to come, and the artwork on my walls will be a testament to that."

"As a creative person, I was unsure on how Art Therapy could help me with emotional issues. But it was greatly surprising. I learned a lot about myself, and how I cope and manage situations, and how my past has impacted me more than I had realised. Amber has a great calming sense about her that makes you feel calm, safe and heard. Each session was fun as well as informing and mind opening. I would recommend Amber (and this program) to everyone, as this has helped me become a better person."

"Thanks so much Amber, for the powerfully healing and meaningful sessions you facilitated over the last few months.
Using art as a way to discover and explore my inner truths was not something I had tried before and I had no idea what to expect when I came to the first session. What I found was a safe, supportive community of women amongst who I was able to be myself without fear and, guided by Amber, began to see aspects inside of me that have refused to be quenched, despite everything. What a precious resource to discover inside myself and to begin to learn the language of.
Moving forward I will continue to use the tools and techniques I learned from Amber as a core part of my continued healing. I know that my continued practice of three will assist me greatly in building a new, healthier life free from abuse and violence."
